1. About This Policy

CrushIt ("the Application") is an iOS app designed to help users quit smoking and nicotine, developed and operated by the CrushIt Team, based in Quebec, Canada.

This privacy policy explains what information is collected when you use CrushIt, how it is used, and what rights you have over your personal data.

This policy complies with Quebec's Law 25 (An Act to modernize legislative provisions respecting the protection of personal information) and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

By using CrushIt, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Data Collected

2.1 Data You Provide

• Name or username: the display name you choose in your profile.
• Profile picture: selected from your photo library. It is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to our servers.
• Onboarding quiz responses: your consumption habits (frequency, product type) and estimated monthly expenses, used to personalize your experience.

2.2 Data Generated by Your Usage (Stored Locally)

The following data is stored only on your device via Apple's UserDefaults system. It is never transmitted to our servers:

• Start date of your journey and progress (smoke-free days)
• Number of recorded relapses
• Real-time calculated savings
• Personal journal entries
• Mini-game scores (Find It Fast, Math Blitz, Memory Recall, Word Scramble, Stroop Test, Breath Hold)
• App preferences (appearance, notification settings)

2.3 Data Transmitted to External Servers

Two features require connection to external servers:

• Community chat: messages you post in the community space are transmitted and stored on Google's Firebase servers.
• AI Assistant: messages you send to the assistant are transmitted to our servers via Cloudflare Workers to generate a response. These conversations are not permanently stored for identification purposes.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data only for the following purposes:

• Personalize your experience: adapt content, goals, and encouragement to your profile.
• Operate app features: streak tracking, savings calculation, progression levels.
• Enable community interactions: display your messages in the shared chat.
• Operate the AI assistant: process your questions and generate relevant responses.
• Send notifications: motivation reminders, streak alerts (only with your permission).
• Improve the application: via anonymized and aggregated usage data (Firebase Analytics).

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes. CrushIt contains no advertising tracking (no ATT/App Tracking Transparency framework).

4. Third-Party Services

CrushIt uses the following third-party services:

4.1 Firebase (Google LLC)

Used for anonymized usage analytics and the community chat database.

Subscription purchases are entirely managed by Apple. CrushIt does not collect, store, or process any payment information.

5. Push Notifications

CrushIt may request permission to send push notifications via Apple's UNUserNotificationCenter system.

These notifications are used for:

• Daily motivation reminders
• Alerts when your streak is at risk
• Personalized encouragement based on your progress

You can disable notifications at any time in the app settings or directly in your device settings (Settings → Notifications → CrushIt). Declining or disabling notifications does not affect the general functionality of the application.

6. Subscriptions and Payments

CrushIt operates on a subscription model. All purchases are processed exclusively by Apple via the App Store. We have no access to any credit card or payment information.

Technical management of the paywall and premium access is handled by Superwall, which may receive information about your subscription status (active, expired, trial).

7. Data Security

We apply the following measures to protect your data:

• Most of your personal data (journal, streak, scores) is stored locally on your device and protected by iOS security mechanisms.
• Communications with our servers (AI assistant, chat) are transmitted via encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
• Access to Firebase servers is secured by authentication rules.

No system is infallible. In case of a data breach likely to cause you harm, we commit to informing you as soon as possible, in accordance with Law 25 obligations.

8. Data Retention

• Local data: retained on your device until you uninstall the application or manually erase your data.
• Community chat messages: retained on Firebase as long as your account is active. You can request their deletion by contacting us.
• AI assistant conversations: not permanently retained for identification purposes on our servers.
• Firebase analytics data: retained according to Google's retention policy (default 14 months).

9. Your Rights

In accordance with Quebec's Law 25 and PIPEDA, you have the following rights over your personal information:

• Right of access: know what data we hold about you.
• Right of rectification: correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Right to deletion: request erasure of your personal data.
• Right to portability: receive your data in a structured format.
• Right to withdraw consent: at any time, for processing based on your consent.

How to Exercise Your Rights

Include in your message:

• Your name or username used in the application
• The nature of your request (access, deletion, etc.)

We commit to responding within 30 days.

10. Children

CrushIt is not intended for persons under 17 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with information, please contact us so we can delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. In case of significant changes, we will notify you via an in-app notification or a visible notice when you next open the app.
